Concentrating to maintain a spell is a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. Anything that could break your concentration when casting a spell can also break your concentration while you're maintaining one, causing the spell to end. You can't cast a spell while concentrating on another one. Some spells last for a short time after you cease concentrating.

Radour's high elven father had a short relationship with his human mother in the Dalelands. He came out of the forests of Cormanthor, being a magic-user of some kind. It seems he was charmed by the nonchalant and joyful ways of Reisha, Radour's mother, who was only 19 years old at the time and working as a maid in a tavern. However, this charm didn't last and he left after spending 1 week at the tavern, promising to return in "a few years' time". The Dalelands is a region neighbored by the kingdom of Cormyr to the southwest, the nation of Sembia to the south, the forest of Cormanthor to the northeast and the Anauroch desert (over the Desertsmouth Mountains) to the northwest.[1] It is most famous for being the home of the wizard Elminster.[2] Some say Dalelanders originally came from the Great Dale. Each Dale, of which there are currently eleven, is an independent territory with its own unique government, military, industry and culture.[3] Radour lived the first 15 years of his life in Deepingdale with his mother. Deepingdale is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere.[8] It is named after the Deeping Princess, an elf-maiden who married a human and led many humans and half-elves to settle here, far from prejudices of gold elves.[9] His youth among humans was troublesome, because they kept pestering him about his pointy ears. He was a withdrawn kid, who devoted most of his time to music and art. He learned to write calligraphy, play chimes, to play-act with his human siblings and to sing a few songs taught by passing elves. When his father finally came back, after 15 years!, he found a very angry Reisha and a very talented boy, whom he soon learned was his son. Radour had always longed to meet his 'sorcerous' father, and was glad to leave his home now that opportunity presented itself. His father led him to the woods of Cormanthor and taught him the elven language, elven culture. Radour soon found a small job as a guard of the forest. He had to keep non-elves (humans and other humanoids) out of the forest, to protect its sacred life. His father's goals in life remained a secret to him, until he reached the age of 20, when he finally heard about the "ancients". His father was very interested in the ancient eldar who had lived in these forests until about 6000 years ago. He introduced Radour to a few other elves with the same interests, and from them Radour learned to 'orate': odes, poems, speeches in the elven language, voiced beautifully in a way to impress other people. Radour became an adorator of the ancient eldar culture which had produced such magnificent poems and songs. There was a bard among them who saw Radour's potential as a bard, and she taught him accordingly. Now at 27 years, Radour is traveling in Cormyr, seeking to educate people with his beautiful music and poetry, and trying to find anything to do with the ancient eldar.
Half-Elf Racial Traits - Spoiler:
+2 to One Ability Score: Half-elf characters get a +2 bonus to one ability score of their choice at creation to represent their varied nature. Medium: Half-elves are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size. Normal Speed: Half-elves have a base speed of 30 feet. Low-Light Vision: Half-elves can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light. See Additional Rules. Adaptability: Half-elves receive Skill Focus as a bonus feat at 1st level. Elf Blood: Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race. Elven Immunities: Half-elves are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects. Keen Senses: Half-elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception skill checks. Multitalented: Half-elves choose two favored classes at first level and gain +1 hit point or +1 skill point whenever they take a level in either one of those classes.
