| Hi, thanks, but then Yorin still has a long way to go before reaching 3d level, let alone 8th level (when she becomes a war-priest). | |

| Is leveling going to slow for you guys? personally its not for me, but some people like fast leveling.... There is a variation I can use for the levels, its not much faster (2500 to 3, 5700 to 4th, 9500 to 5th, 14700 to 6th and so on....) but 500 or 300 xp is just that much not needed, ye know? Tell me what you guys think. | |

I don't think it's going too slow, I mean I think it would help. I know driders and I'm pretty sure we only survived that last fight because you were being nice, but it doesn't feel plodding or anything.

| well, they could have been played better tactily.... but I didnt fudge rolls or lower hp, I did roll hp separately for every enemy though. Your right though it was a close fight, and it could have been worse | |

| Don’t driders have fireball? One of those would pretty much be the end of our party. | |

| Spells:0—daze, detect magic, ghost sound, mage hand, ray of frost, read magic, resistance; 1st—mage armor, magic missile, ray of enfeeblement, silent image; 2nd— invisibility, web; 3rd—lightning bolt.
These are the spells the srd said the driders would usually have prepared. I held off from using the defensive spells, and Ray of Enfeeblement, which would have made things alot harder. Besides there normal attacks were outrageous anyways, there mods are pretty close to the ogres.

| lol yeah that lightning bolt almost 1-shot me. Also, I think duergar get invisibility and enlarge person on themselves 1/day as a spell like ability, so you haven't been doing that really. Ogres also are considered giants so us little folk get +4 AC against them, though they might also get reach I'm not sure on that one.
A couple of those driders could have taken all of us out with a combination of silent image, web, invisibility, and their attacks with bows and spells.
My vote is for quick leveling, as wizards at this level are basically fodder for the most part. Once we hit 5th level wizards with attack spells start doing a ton of damage, and all wizards do well starting 7th or so. Usually tabletop groups I've been in will try to level once a week or so until level 6 or 7, then it usually slows to once every 2 weeks until 12-ish, then once every 3-4 weeks after that. That's assuming weekly meetings of 5-6 hours each, so it's vastly different than this forum format.

| Your right, the duregar do have those abilities. And yes, I haven't been using them for obvious reasons. 5 Duregar and 2 Driders invisible, and the duregar enlarged. That would have been fatal.... So, I couldn't have done that, but fighting Duregar and Driders is acceptable for my campign setting. I'll execel the leveling a little bit, I think now i should have had you guys start on 3rd level. | |

| You could always give us enough bonus exp for surviving that battle to bump us up to 3rd Seriously though, the DM is God when it comes to D&D, you can do whatever you want. I've played with a couple dozen different DMs including myself and given the differences with this system vs tabletop and both the difficulties we're experiencing and the difficulties we could be experiencing but aren't, I'd rate this pretty high on the scale. Leveling too fast is a bad thing too. I would be alright bumping to 3rd now, but no more than that as it would take away from the story. 1-2 weeks per level sounds good until we get a little higher, then slowing down a little bit would be optimum I think. It all also depends on posting speed, we sometimes blow through days where most players post several times and there have also been days where most people post once if at all. This is also summer time so people are randomly taking vacations, road trips, etc. I imagine when school starts up again people's lives will be a little more structured. I don't know how many college or high school students there are here, I know a couple of people have jobs with schedules and some have jobs where they can make their own schedule, or post from work. Anyway I guess what I'm saying is take it as it comes. You're doing a great job, so trust in your judgment and instincts when it comes to how fast to level us, and maybe we can provide a little nudge here and there in the form of feedback. If your judgment is that you should have started us on 3rd, bump us up and go from there. | |

| Like you said, I don't want to take away from the story, so I won't just bump everyone up. But I will level you guys up a little faster now, and ya It will probably slow down later on. Thanks for the complimants, this is hard work really...
As for the HP regen, I understand what your saying. SO, I think regaining your level in hp every 2 hours is more appropriate. (in which case right now doesn't change anything) Unless severly injured, I think if your hp at half or less, you regain you level in hp every 4 hours. I think this is more fair, even than the orginal rules.

| 1k to go for me too for level 3. I think the leveling rate is fine as long as the challenge rating for the fights stays level-appropriate | |

I tend to agree, a quick bump to 3rd would be immensely helpful to the party. After that a slower pace. But like you said, DM’s prerogative.

| I don't see the benefit of a quick bump as the DM will merely up the challenge rating to match.
If he's doing his job right, and so far he's doing it excellently, every battle will be a tough fight whether we're level 2 or 12.

| I agree, he’s keeping the fights challenging and fun. But to some extent we’re only surviving because he’s intentionally making a few poor tactical decisions to help us survive. | |

| Yeah, as a former DM I can tell you it's more fun when you can try to kill the party and legitimately not be able to because of the innovation of the players. Holding back is a must at the beginning but it gets more fun for everyone after a few levels. | |
